Office of Divine Worship

Sacred Music… “a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any art.” (The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy)
The Office of Divine Worship serves as a liturgical resource and guide for the Bishop, clergy, and faithful of the diocese. This office is responsible for the planning and implementation of diocesan liturgies celebrated at St. Michael’s Cathedral such as the Rite of Election, Holy Week, Easter and Ordinations. The Office of Divine Worship is also responsible for promoting models for liturgy and music.
The Office is available as a resource to help with questions about:
• Liturgy & Music
• Liturgical laws and rubrics
• Planning of liturgical services
Music plays an integral role in all liturgical celebrations, and the Cathedral Choir of Boys & Adults provides the music for diocesan liturgies celebrated at the Cathedral. Members of the Cathedral Choir represent parishes from throughout the Springfield Diocese. These individuals give of their time and talents to serve the ministry of the Bishop and the people of Western Mass.
The Office of Divine Worship is located at on the second floor of St. Michael’s Cathedral.  Please direct any questions or requests for information to:
