Minutes from the acting
secretary
Tom Bernard
I.
Tom welcomed everyone to the
meeting.
II.
Sister Jacqueline began the
meeting with a for a successful school year
III.
Introductions: The Home and
School officers introduced themselves. The parents in attendance then went
around the room and introduced themselves. Tom noted that the position of
secretary is still open and asked for a volunteer to serve in this capacity
during this school year.
IV.
Class parents list: The class parents for this year are: pre-K, Shannon Barrett;
Kindergarten, Lori Webster; 1st, Jennifer Dean 2nd, M.
Fortier; 3rd, Joy Marino; 4th,Carleen Kittler; 5th,
Paula Wheeler; 6th OPEN (Suzanne Koperek); 7th
Paula Wheeler; 8th Bonnie Pero. Thanks to all these volunteers for
this service.
V.
School directory: Tom proposed
creating a school directory of student names and contact information by class,
to make it easier for members of the school community to connect with one
another. There was interest in this Tom will create a data collection sheet and
a memo to go home about the directory.
V.
Make a difference day: Terri
Boccia will coordinate again this year, and will continue with last year’s “Read
to Feed” theme.
VI.
Children of Mary: Thanks to
Julie Wojcik, who volunteered to coordinate the group this year.
VII.
School Photos: Friday,
September 25. Thanks to Carleen Kittler and Ellen Marszalek for volunteering to
assist.
VIII.
Fall Activities: October 25th Halloween party for grades pre-K to 2 will be
coordinated by Shannon Barrett; party for grades 3-4 will be coordinated by
Lorry Delmolino. October 30 dance for grades 5-8 will be coordinated by Suzanne
Koperek.
IX.
Fundraising
i.
The fundraising target for this year is $40,000-$45,000.
ii.
Golf tournament raised over $800
iii.
Summer street fairs raised $457
iv.
Restaurant fundraisers: Old Country Buffet on September 22
1.
We are looking for a volunteer to coordinate the restaurant fundraiser
this year.
v.
Cash calendar deadline is Friday, September 25
vi.
The school’s Big Y Education Express code is 5933; Stop & Shop,
Price Chopper and Target also have affinity programs.
vii.
Box Tops for Education: Bonnie Pero continues to coordinate the program
this year. Parents are encouraged to ask other family members, coworkers, etc.,
to share box tops. As a reminder, please include the expiration date when
cutting out the coupon.
viii.
Lorry Delmolino brought in a Butter Braids sample. This was proposed for
the spring fundraiser, to begin after February vacation to get the orders back
in time for Easter.
ix.
Chris Wheeler proposed a sports ticket raffle fundraiser for the spring
as well.
x.
Suzanne Koperek offered to coordinate another round of school fleece
jacket sales.
xi.
As a reminder, the fundraising committee will meet after the next Home
and School Committee meeting – all are invited to participate.
X.
Bazaar: This year’s bazaar will
be on Saturday, November 21. Lorry Delmolino and Brenda Yerrick are this year’s
co-chairs. They still need a chairperson for the snack bar.
i.
Polish food preparation days will be October 31 and November 7.
XI.
Good to the Order
i.
The Fall Foliage Parade is looking for banner carriers. Contact the
parade committee to volunteer
ii.
The group discussed playground safety, and reviving the playground
committee. Anyone interested in this committee please contact Dawn Canales.
iii.
Sister Jacqueline agreed to send home a reminder about parking.
iv.
This year the Girl Scout troop will be open to girls in grades 2 and up
(Brownie, Jr., Cadet).
